Kalabharathi National Dance and Music Festival 2014

Kalabharathi National Dance and Music Festival at Thrissur, Kerala from 26 to 30 Nov 2014. The event inaugurated by M A Baby,the former minister for education and culture,at Sahithya Academy hall, Thrissur is organised by  Kalabharathi Foundation for Indian Culture and Heritage .Talented singers and dancers are participating in this five day event.

Acting Rehearsal of Kathakali

Watch the acting rehearsal of Kathakali. The story of the dance drama is Dronacharitham , a new story in Kathakali, written by Kottakkal Pradeep. PSV Natyasangham at Kottakkal, Malappuram Dt in Kerala is organizing this play.

Dronacharitham Kathakali had its initial performance at Kottakkal. The play was staged at Palakkad Kathakali Trust on November as a part of their monthly performance of Kathakali.

NangiarKoothu by Kalamandalam Prasanthi

The monthly performance of Sreekrishnacharitham NagiarKoothu by Kalamandalam Prasanthi will be held on 22nd November 2014 at Thrisur. Prasanthi will be accompanied by Kalamandalam Jayaraj and Kalamandalam Manikandan on Mizhavu,the percussion; Kalanilayam Rajan on Idakka percussion and Kalamandalam Sangeetha on thalam , the cymbals. The scenes from Jarasandhayuddham will be performed by Prasanthi on Saturday, 22nd from 06.30 pm. Thekke Swamiar Madom at Pazhayanadakkavu, Thrissur, Kerala will be the venue of the event.

Monthly Music Concert at Mannar

Music  Concert organised by Sree Mahadeva Gana Sabha, Mannar as a part of their monthy performances will be conducted on 23 Nov 2014 at 06.30 pm .
Vocal  by Thrissur Aparna Madhu, Violin by Mavelikkara Biju Narayanan and Mrudangam by Edathva VinodChandran. The programme is held at Viruppil Sree Bhadrakali Temple, Mannar, Alappuzha, Kerala.

Sangeet Natak Akademi, New Delhi, Kutiyattam Kendra (Centre for Kutiyattam), Thiruvananthapuram, &    Dept. of Museums & Zoo, Govt. of Kerala organises NangiarKoothu and ChakyarKoothu on 19 November 2014, Wednesday at  6.00p.m.  They have their regular venue at  Museum Auditorium, Govt Museum, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala.

Nangiarkoothu (Story:"Madhookasapam") is performed by Kum.Archana Nandakumar & troupe and
Chakyarkoothu by Master Sreehari Chakyar & troupe.

Programme begin with a brief appreciation class. Detailed synopsis of the event will be available at the venue.

Mohiniyattam by Smitha Rajan

Mohiniyattam, the Indian classical dance form from Kerala. Watch the mohiniyattam performance by Smitha Rajan, the grand daughter of the maestros in Indian Classical dance Kalamandalam Krishnan Nair and Kalamandalam Kalyanikutty Amma.

The expressive presentation of Smitha was on the Mohini Nrithyathi Festival held at Thrissur on Dec 2013. The highly talented dancer from Eranakulam, Kerala is now settled at US. She is running a dance school in US called Nrithyakshethra, the temple of Dance.

Kalamandalam Krishnan Nair was an exponent in Kathakali and Kalayanikutty Amma is known as the mother of Mohiniyattam
